One clue that your ballast is the reason for a non working fluorescent light is the light bulbs struggle to turn on. Or you can read the printing on the tube to identify the correct replacement type. Aside from a burnt tube other factors such as a worn starter and loose or oxidized electrical contacts can contribute to a fluorescent light not working properly. A fluorescent light fixture that is not working or working well can be caused by several problems. Also these dimmers will not work for incandescent fixtures.
